Guideline4.2

“Your app does not include sufficient content or features”

§ 01What Apple’s wording tells you

App Review
Guideline 4.2 - Minimum Functionality Your app does not include sufficient content or features to be useful to users. Apps that are simply websites bundled in a container, or that provide a very limited set of features, are not appropriate for the App Store.

§ 02Common causes

  • The main UI is a website in a WebView.
  • One or two static screens after launch.
  • The listing promises more than the binary contains.
  • The reviewer missed a deeper native flow.

§ 03What to inspect in your project

  • What the app does that the mobile site cannot
  • Whether home is a WebView
  • Empty and coming-soon states

§ 04Suggested reply to App Review

Hello App Review,

The app’s native work is not the marketing site. In review, please:
1. [step]
2. [step]
3. [device-specific feature]

That path works offline / uses [camera, files, widgets]. We also expanded [feature] in this build so the first session is not a thin wrapper.

Thank you.

§ 05Should you appeal?

Appeal only when the binary already has depth and the note reads like a skipped review. Otherwise change the product.
